  • No, though Salba has many “medicinal” qualities, it is currently classified as a natural whole food supplement.
  • Is Salba certified Organic?
  • Salba is currently grown under natural conditions, and it expected to earn Organic Certification in the U.S. within 2007.
  • Can one overdose on Salba?
  • Based on clinical research, participants were given up to 20 times normal daily dose with no adverse side effects.
  • Is Salba better consumed whole, or in ground form?
  • Many people prefer to grind Salba when utilized in food recipes, however, whole seeds will still easily break down in the digestive system when consumed.
  • What is the shelf life of Salba?
  • In its whole seed form Salba has a 5 Year shelf life. When ground, Salba stays fresh for up to 6-10 weeks when refrigerated.
  • Is Salba good for weight loss programs?
  • Due to the high fibre content, Salba swells 8-12 times in the stomach alleviating feelings of hunger while giving one’s body the nutrition it requires. In addition, the fibre consistently promotes cleansing and increased transit times resulting in healthy and consistent weight loss.
  • Is Salba Gluten Free?
  • Yes-Salba contains no gluten and is therefore perfectly safe for Celiacs. There have also been many reports from Salba users regarding the diminished effects of lactose intolerance.
  • What is the best method of using Salba in my daily diet?
  • Salba can be mixed into cereals, salads, sprinkled on yogurt, mixed into smoothies, or in burgers. Salba is compatible with everything because of its neutral flavour.
  • What is the typical amount one should consume on a daily basis?
  • Typical dosage for adults is 15g (2 tablespoons). Children should take 1 tablespoon.

  • Yes, up to 20% of the flour used in any recipe can be replaced with ground Salba. In Addition, Salba gel can be used in place of eggs.
  • Where is Salba grown?
  • Salba is grown in Peru in lands surrounding the Amazon basin and within proximity to the equator where growing conditions are the finest in the world.
  • Will Salba interact with any medicines I may be taking?
  • Among Salba users, even those who are on various medications, there have been no reports of negative interactions.
  • Can children take Salba?
  • Children and adolescents can take up to two tablespoons of ground Salba per day gradually building up from one teaspoon over a month’s time.
  • Can I feed Salba to my pets?
  • Dogs can consume Salba in moderation as a food additive; however, we do not recommend feeding Salba to birds or small animals.
  • Is Salba available in any other food products?
  • Salba is currently integrated into Salba Life, Source Salba and the Salba Smart line of snack foods. Look for recently released formulations using Salba Seed Oil. These products are primarily found in the USA at the moment.
  • Why can’t I buy Salba in the grocery store?
  • Salba is still new in the U.S., and considered a premium product. It is only now just being introduced into Europe.
