Frequently Asked Questions
- Why haven't I heard of Marine Phytoplankton before?
- Although Scientists have been studying the nutritional content of Marine Phytoplankton for many years the problem has always been, how do you harvest one of Nature’s most complete foods without harming the eco-system? In addition to that, Marine Phytoplankton is a single cell organism and each cell is invisible to the naked eye, so Phytoplankton is not easy to locate in the middle of a vast Ocean! Marine Phytoplankton can only be seen when large numbers of these tiny organisms are growing together in one place – but you would need to drain the Ocean of many millions of tonnes of sea water to gather sufficient quantities for human needs. This in turn would have the effect of depleting a valuable resource that marine life depends on. The long term consequences could be catastrophic for our planet.
- What are the Benefits of Marine Phytoplankton?
- The elements and electrolytes in plankton are almost tailor-made for the human body. It is no coincidence that the composition of human plasma is similar to that of seawater. Over reliance on land-based food sources often leads to deficiencies in micronutrients and trace elements. Our bodies need these elements to perform as nature intended. Left to its own devices, the human body has a marvellous system called homeostasis which keeps all systems in balance. Take away some critical component and the body experiences malfunctions that cause suboptimal performance. See PDF for more information >>
- So how do you overcome this problem?
- It was an extraordinary piece of good fortune (or divine intervention?) that enabled the world to finally gain access to one of Nature's most elusive and complete food sources. In 2004, a Canadian shell-fish farmer developed a method of growing Marine Phytoplankton on land in order to feed the shell-fish he was cultivating for export. For eight years he had experimented with many different species of Phytoplankton before perfecting his formula. It was the rapid increase in the quality and growth rate of his shell-fish (including clams, mussels and oysters), that convinced him he was on to something, although at this stage no one had produced any real evidence that Marine Phytoplankton could benefit human health. It wasn’t until the farmer was diagnosed with a rare and incurable cancer (Mesothelioma) that he instinctively “stuck two fingers” in one of the tanks containing the Phytoplankton and put a small amount of the green paste in his mouth to eat. The reasoning was that if the algae was good enough for his shell-fish, it might do him some good too! He continued eating the algae every day for around two weeks, then noticed the pain in his body was subsiding. Surgeons later conducted a biopsy prior to performing a life threatening operation, and were amazed to discover the cancerous tumours in his lungs were now benign.
- What about algae like Spirulina and Chlorella, are they similar to Marine Phytoplankton?
- Spirulina and Chlorella do have certain similarities, but they grow in a fresh water environment as opposed to sea water, and they have a different nutritional profile. Marine Phytoplankton comprises thousands of different species, whereas Spirulina and Chlorella are only single species plants. Also, it appears that Marine Phytoplankton is more readily absorbed by the cells of the body where the nutrients can be of most benefit. It is interesting to note that over 100,000 of these tiny single cell organisms can fit inside just one drop of water!
- How do I know that Marine Phytoplankton is safe to eat?
- Batch samples of Marine Phytoplankton are regularly tested in a laboratory to ensure there are no harmful contaminants present, unlike much of the produce that is sold in grocery stores and supermarkets!
- I am on medication, should I talk to my Doctor before taking this product?
- Yes. Although Marine Phytoplankton is a natural food (no additives, colourings or preservatives) it is always recommended that you discuss any change to your normal diet with a health care professional first. It may be that you can start to reduce your level of medication, but that should be a decision for your Doctor.
- If Marine Phytoplankton can help someone with a particular medical condition that I also suffer from, can I expect similar results?
- It is important to stress that Marine Phytoplankton is a highly nutritious food, therefore it cannot directly ‘treat’ or ‘cure’ any illness or disease. What it can do is feed the cells of the body with a quite remarkable combination of vitamins, minerals and other essential nutrients. It is then possible for the body to function more effectively in the vital task of cell growth and regeneration. You should also be aware that what works for one person may not work for another. However, medical opinion is now moving towards the idea that ‘complete food’ (that is a diet containing everything the cells in our body need to stay healthy), is the best way to help fight off disease and illness.
- Marine Phytoplankton contains some elements I have never heard of, are they compatible with our own body chemistry?
- To find out what your own body is made of – or should be – please visit this excellent web page: http://web2.iadfw.net/uthman/elements_of_body.html
- Is Marine Phytoplankton a health supplement?
- Marine Phytoplankton has been supporting virtually all life in the Ocean long before anything or anyone was growing or living on land. Creatures in the sea have always depended on this highly nutritious single celled organism for their very survival. No formulated health supplement can be compared to Nature’s most precious gift. Synthetic pills and potions are not always compatible with the traditional human diet, so isn’t it just common sense to seek out a source of nutrition that has stood the test of time? Marine Phytoplankton is quite simply one of Nature’s most complete superfoods.
- Why do you call Marine Phytoplankton a superfood?
- Living Proof™ Marine Phytoplankton contains nearly 50% pure vegetable Protein in a highly bio-available form, plus Omega 3 and 6 EFA's and all ten Amino Acids considered essential in maintaining health and wellbeing for children and adults. In addition, thirty-four Elements that have been identified in Living Proof™ (including Calcium, Chromium, Iron and Potassium) are all present in humans from birth. You could say that our Marine Phytoplankton is a ‘perfect match’ for your body.
- What health or medical claims do you make for Marine Phytoplankton?
- Although some food manufacturers make health claims in order to sell more products, these claims are often challenged by the Advertising Standards Agencies as being potentially misleading. Not all foods suit all people, particularly if they have been processed. However, some functional whole foods such as Marine Phytoplankton contain the important ‘building blocks of life’ that everyone needs in order to maintain optimum health and wellness.
- Why haven’t I read about Phytoplankton or seen it on TV?
- David Attenborough recently highlighted the importance of Phytoplankton in his BBC Television series ‘Planet Earth’. The world is now discovering one of Nature's best kept secrets.
- I’ve heard that a man who was diagnosed with terminal Cancer started eating Marine Phytoplankton and then made a full recovery – what do you say about that?
- We have received many reports of serious illnesses being reversed. Medical experts agree that if you provide the body with the right nutrients at the right time in a bio-available form and let the intelligence of the body begin the healing process, then it is possible for a person's health to improve.
- If I ask my Doctor for their opinion about Marine Phytoplankton, what will they tell me?
- It is unreasonable to ask any medical Doctor for their professional opinion if they have no first hand knowledge or experience of Marine Phytoplankton. General Practice Doctors learn very little about preventative health care and diet at Medical School. Front line medicine focuses primarily on diagnosis and treatment of an existing condition rather than trying to prevent illness from occurring in the first place. Most Doctors play safe by giving the standard response: “Well I don’t know if it will help you, but it shouldn't do any harm”.
